How to compress an image to 100 KB for free

If a form rejects your photo because it exceeds 100 KB, you can try reducing the image resolution and choosing a more compact output format. A 100 KB limit describes file size, not image width or height.

Steps

  1. Open the free image compressor using the button below.
  2. Select a JPG, PNG or WebP image (up to 20 MB).
  3. Choose the 100 KB preset.
  4. Select JPG if the receiving form allows it. WebP may be smaller, but many forms do not accept it.
  5. Adjust the crop or dimensions if necessary, then prepare the image.
  6. Check the displayed output size and preview before downloading.

Why might the file exceed 100 KB?

Very detailed photos, fixed pixel dimensions and lossless PNG output can prevent the target from being met. Try JPG or smaller dimensions if the form permits them. Compression may reduce visual quality.

100 KB vs. 100 pixels

KB measures storage size. Pixels measure dimensions. If your form requires both, enter the specified width and height and verify the resulting file size.

Are photos uploaded?

No. Image processing runs locally in your browser. The site may collect page-visit analytics, not your image content.

Does a 100 KB photo meet official requirements?

Not necessarily. Official forms may also require a specific format, background, aspect ratio or dimensions. Always follow the receiving organization's instructions.
