How to prepare a photo for an online application
Job applications, education portals and other online forms can reject images because of their file size, dimensions or format. Prepare the image using the requirements shown on the specific form, not generic passport-photo rules.
Check the form first
- Find the maximum file size, such as 50 KB, 100 KB, 200 KB or 1 MB.
- Check which file formats are accepted: JPG, PNG or sometimes WebP.
- Check whether the form specifies pixel dimensions or an aspect ratio.
- Check any additional portrait, background or document rules.
Prepare the file
Use the free browser tool to choose a size preset, crop if needed and optionally enter exact pixel dimensions. Then preview and download the result.

Common mistakes
- Using WebP when only JPG is accepted: select JPG instead.
- Confusing KB with pixels: they measure different things.
- Assuming smaller is always better: excessive compression can make text or faces unclear.
- Assuming a compressed photo is officially certified: it is not.
Privacy
The image itself is processed on your device in the browser, without uploading it to this site's server. Always review the privacy terms of the form to which you eventually submit the file.
What if the image still exceeds the limit?
Try reducing dimensions if allowed, or changing to JPG. If exact dimensions are mandatory, a requested file-size target may not be achievable without unacceptable quality loss.
